Ridgegate Home was established in 1946, so we celebrate 80 years this year! Nestled in a tranquil setting, we provide a safe, supportive, compassionate home for up to 25 elderly residents no longer able to live independently.

Who we are

Ridgegate Home in Reigate, Surrey is a private, non-profit making residential care home for older people who, for various reasons, are unable to maintain a home of their own. Ridgegate Home is a large, detached period building, which accommodates 23 residents. The home is administered by a Board of Governors, who have an active role in the running of the home.


The role

Make a Difference in the Lives of Older People

We are seeking committed and enthusiastic individuals to join our Board of Trustees and help guide the future of our residential care home.

As a Trustee, you will play a vital role in ensuring our organization delivers high-quality care, remains financially sustainable, and continues to provide a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment for our residents.

About the Role

Trustees provide strategic leadership, oversight, and governance. Working alongside fellow Board members and the senior management team, you will help shape the organization’s direction and ensure it fulfils its charitable objectives and legal responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of the organization’s strategy and vision.
  • Monitor financial performance and sustainability.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and governance requirements.
  • Support and challenge senior leadership constructively.
  • Promote the organization’s values and reputation within the community.
  • Attend Board meetings and participate in relevant committees or working groups.

Who We Are Looking For

We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and experiences. Previous trustee experience is not essential but desirable.

We are particularly interested in individuals with experience in:

  • Health and social care
  • Legal or governance matters
  • Fundraising and community engagement

Successful candidates will demonstrate:

  • Commitment to improving the lives of older people.
  • Good judgement and strategic thinking.
  • Integrity and accountability.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Time Commitment

  • Approximately 4 Board meetings per year with ad-hoc online meetings as required.
  • Flexible voluntary commitment averaging 3 hours per month.
