Who we are
Cambridge Community Arts improves mental health through creativity by improving access to creative and cultural practices for people at risk of exclusion, acknowledging intersectionality affects mental health and mental ill-health impacts on life opportunities and outcomes. We support creative people on journeys that lead to better health and life choices. CCA builds healthier creative communities by creating connections between creative people and reducing their loneliness. Our charitable objective is to promote social inclusion for the public benefit by preventing people from becoming socially excluded, relieving the needs of those people who are socially excluded and assisting them to integrate into society, particularly but not exclusively through the provision of arts-based activities. 2019 CCA received a Community Group of the Year Award and are highly commended by local mental health professionals.
The role
Trustee with Lived Experience
We recognise that everyone has a lived experience of some kind. What we are looking for is someone who can bring their life experience, particularly where creativity has played an important role in a recovery journey, to inform our charity at the highest level. The Board of Trustees have independent control over and a legal responsibility for CCA’s management and administration. It is important that decisions are made with a clear understanding of their impact, which we feel personal experience can bring.
In addition to your lived experience of social exclusion,
you will have many other skills needed to support the running of the charity. It
is important that you can contribute to the work of the Board, share opinion,
debate, accept majority decisions and commit the time required. As an ambassador for the charity, you will be
prepared to share your story to promote CCA’s work. In return you will enjoy
working as part of a team supporting a growing charity with an exciting future.
If you would like to arrange an informal conversation with
the current Trustee Expert by Lived Experience please email jane@camcommarts.org.uk with your
