Who we are

Ridgegate Home in Reigate, Surrey is a private, non-profit making residential care home for older people who, for various reasons, are unable to maintain a home of their own. Ridgegate Home is a large, detached period building, which accommodates 23 residents. The home is administered by a Board of Governors, who have an active role in the running of the home.


The role

Skills and experience sought

We are looking for a trustee with strong financial skills who can help support the Board in overseeing the charity’s financial sustainability during an important period for the organisation.

Essential

  • Senior-level finance experience, ideally with a recognised financial qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent
  • Strong understanding of financial oversight, budgeting, cash flow, forecasting and financial controls
  • Experience of reviewing management accounts and helping non-financial colleagues understand key issues and risks
  • Ability to support the Board in assessing financial sustainability, reserves, cost pressures and longer-term planning
  • Good judgement, independence of thought and the confidence to provide constructive challenge
  • Ability to work strategically while also understanding operational realities
  • Commitment to the mission, values and governance responsibilities of a charity trustee

Desirable

  • Previous trustee, non-executive or board experience
  • Experience in the charity, health, social care or care home sector
  • Experience of organisations managing occupancy, fee income, staffing pressures and tight cost control
  • Familiarity with charity finance, restricted funds, reserves policy and audit or independent examination processes
  • Experience supporting organisations through periods of change, recovery or performance improvement

  • Help the Board interpret financial performance and forward projections
