We are passionate about changing the face of trustee boards.

SNAP our brand new Intelligent #trustee uses an advanced matching system to ensure that organisations and candidates are more closely paired than a standard application process.

We speak to Managing Director of Trustees Unlimited, Ian Joseph about this new service and why it’s so important.

Why have we set up SNAP?

We are a disrupter to the market. With one in five trustees named David or John, it is still crucial that boards look at the cognitive and social diversity of its members.

Why is a diverse board important?

It is generally agreed that boards which have diverse members make better decisions, albeit the process of reaching that decision is often more tortuous. As my dear late friend Stephen Lloyd used to say, “the best boards are comprised of people who can barely tolerate one another’s company but are held together by a good chair!” Hyperbole perhaps, but the essence of a great board is that its constituent members coalesce around the charitable objects and that’s what drives its decision making and is what gives it its verve.

Why now?

The current trustee recruitment landscape is fragmented and the service quality variable. For small organisations in particular, the options can be bewildering, with free-to-post websites and expensive advertising. The technologies available are often clunky and do not offer the functionalities to define the parameters of candidates in much detail. This has bothered us for a long time; governance is too important to not get right and recruiting the best trustees is therefore vital.

What is SNAP?

SNAP is an intelligent matching system that seeks to match charities with the optimal candidates. It does this by organisations completing a questionnaire about the type of candidate or candidates who would be ideal; this includes location, skills set, and some protected characteristics. The system will then identify the best matches and invite those candidates to apply for the role(s).

Who should use it?

SNAP is a good option for charities who do not have the resources available for a full headhunt. Typically, these will be charities with an income of a million pounds or less. Headhunting will continue to be an essential part of the recruitment process for many larger charities and Trustees Unlimited is one of the leading firms delivering this solution.

We are now inviting those interested in becoming a charity trustee to find out more and register.

For charities looking to recruit trustees, we will be offering 3 months of FREE advertising using SNAP from early November.

TU champions itself on being a disrupter to the market and we hope this new service continues to do exactly that.
